I know this post is pretty late, but I use a TomTom and it's amazing. I take the wrong roads (sometimes the wrong way) all the time. The TomTom GO 720 is really easy to program; I've added custom voice for directions (although I usually just use the image). It is super-fast to update if I do take the wrong road.It also holds music and eBooks - I travel quite a bit so this is a great tool, too.

Such cute ideas! What works best for us is a metal "trash can" I found in the pet section at Target a few years ago to store food in. The lid has a plastic gasket to keep food fresh and it means not having to look at that ugly bag anymore. I really like that it's metal to help keep light away from the food to extend the freshness.

What a fun way to pass the time! I don't envy anyone who has to deal with that either. I don't think Montana has any freeways that have 4 lanes of traffic going in one direction. Our traffic is either construction on our soon-to-be 4-lane highway (2 lanes each way - rural highway), or the line of cars traveling 22 mph behind the International Harvester.

Ah. My daughter is the only grandchild on one side...and the only out of town grandchild on the other. Even if they did get a carseat, we could still have borrowed one from one of her cousins!I didn't mind the price...mainly because I knew that I would be flying alone with her more than my husband would be going with us. Anything to lessen the stress on me is usually worth it!

Christy, thanks for the links. Those could come in handy. For me personally a little to pricey, carrying the car seat wasn't all that bad. If I flew alone often with all three kids I would consider it though.We had 7 children meeting up at my grandfathers house, he wasn't quite prepared with that many car seats :)

I fly frequently with my 2.5 yr-old. Since we always have a carseat when we arrive at our destination (My parents bought one just to keep at their house), I use the Cares Harness for my daughter. I’ve flown quite a bit with my kids and I find that under 2 and over that “lap child” stage it is easier to use the car seat. I guess it makes it seem more like the car and they don’t get as antsy. My daughter falls asleep much easier in her car seat. When my first was younger and we didn’t use the car seat he could easily unbuckle the regular airplane seat belt. Is that a personal choice Tanna to use a car seat on the plane or is that something the airlines require? I'm flying with my then 3 year old to Toronto in Nov and have never thought about putting him in a seat on the plane. I bring it for when we get there it just didn't occur to me to use it on the plane. Would love to hear your thoughts.
