Project Organize

If you live in the Middle Tennessee area I have some great news for you! I am teaming up with Goodwill of Middle Tennessee again this year to help you Crack Down on Clutter. If you donate at a participating Goodwill donation site you will be given an entry form to win a session with yours truly.

Last year I helped Goodwill celebrate their 50th Anniversary by participating in the first Project Organize. We had so much fun we decided to do it again this year. The amazing people at Goodwill thought this project would be a good way to give back to their donors. If it weren't for your donations Goodwill would not be able to help the thousands of people they reach out to each year.

Get ready to crack down on that clutter! Start going through those clothes you never wear and get to the nearest donation center for your chance to win.

Magazines Piled High

I must admit, magazines are a weak spot for me. I love the fresh ideas and new content delivered to my mailbox each month. However, with my new fascination in blogging I have noticed I can find much more information and ideas than any one magazine could ever carry.

My sons school did a magazine sale fundraiser last December so I told my mother in lieu of a Christmas gift she could get me my favorite mags. I must say I have had a bit of overload this year. Here are a few tips to deal with magazine overload:
  • If magazines are piling up take stock and see which ones you are losing interest in and cancel your subscription instead of renewing.

  • Keep a magazine handy for reading material when you know you will have to wait somewhere. (ex. doctor's office, or pick up line at child's school)

  • Skim magazines as soon as they come in and tear out any interesting articles for reading when you have time. File them in a "To Read" folder.

  • If you want to keep articles for future reference, create a three-ring binder with page protectors you can label by category.

Don't forget to recycle those magazines when you are done. You can also donate appropriate magazines to waiting rooms or schools.

As for me personally, I have been storing my articles in a binder. The binder was full so I went through it the last couple of days and tossed the articles that were no longer relevant. Most of the articles I keep include images of organized rooms, great organizing tips and interesting storage ideas. Instead of keeping the articles all to myself I decided it would be a great idea to scan them and share them with you all. Over the next couple of weeks you can look forward to some real treats.

Remember to keep those magazine subscriptions under control!

Their Business is Changling Lives....

Goodwill of Middle Tennessee turned 50 today and I was invited to attend their birthday celebration. I have to say that this is truly an amazing organization. When you donate to Goodwill you are helping them provide job training and job placement for people with disabilities or other barriers to employment. Well, today I had the opportunity to meet some of the people that Goodwill has helped. Everywhere I went, from the front desk to the parking lot I was greeted with a smile. While walking through the facility you feel a true sense of community and family. Everyone is just so happy to be there. Thank you Goodwill for letting me join in on the celebration.
